We are Aahaan.
Aahaan was founded inspired by the life and service of Dr. Bhaskar Madhekar
“Aahaan” in Sanskrit means “the first ray of light in the morning.”
We strive to be that ray of light for those in need.
Our journey on this path of giving started four generations ago, in education and preventing blindness in rural India. And we have spread into other areas such as povidign groceries and food essentials to families in need to helping with medical care.
India was effected by one of the world’s worst COVID-19 outbreaks.
During this humanitarian crisis of unprecedented magnitude, we were fortunate to be a part of the solution.
Highlights of our work so far:
Support to orphanages for providing meals to over 1000 children
Provided oxygen concentrators and pulse oximeters to villages
Provided basic amenities such as wheel chair, stretcher, fetal doppler to rural health centers
Provided financial support for laboratory testing and medicines to families in need
Provided groceries for families in rural tribal areas living in food insecure areas
Contributed to ENT equipment for care of mucormycosis cases at a teaching hospital in Telangana State
Helped rural communities in sustainable agriculture in Vidarbha region
Provided aid to children orphaned from COVID
Helped establish a school for children of “Pravasi majdoors” in a remote rural tribal community. We provide clothing, footwear and school supplies to these children
Established classes in tailoring and sewing for the tribal rural women as a step towards empowering them to be self reliant
Initiated educational sessions on nutrition and vacciantions to pregnant women in these rural communities

Our mission is to bring aid directly to the people who need it. During the Covid crisis, we were able to provide help with food, medical supplies such as PPE, Pulse Oximeters and Oxygen Concentrators.
